StitchCast Studio is a podcast produced by Saint Louis Story Stitchers Artists Collective in Saint Louis, Missouri. It’s a show about the streets, gun violence, and finding solutions to issues that are coming at our youth hard. The voices of youth of color are important to hear at this critical time. StitchCast Studio creates a series of leveled conversations about issues that concern youth related to health, safety and violence. This is the place to come to hear real conversations about what’s on the minds of 16-25 year old St. Louis teens and young adults and catch some powerful new ideas for solutions. Programs include original spoken word and music produced by Saint Louis Story Stitchers. Saint Louis Story Stitchers is a nationally recognized Artists Collective know for high quality art ad innovative youth violence prevention programs. StitchCast Studio has received supported from the National Endowment for the Arts, On the web at arts dot gov. Understanding Trauma
A conversation exploring trauma with Story Stitchers’ black youth led by Stitchers Youth Council co-chairs Branden Lewis and Emeara Burns with LJ Punch, MD, President, Power4STL and an American Critical Care Surgeon.
Four unique conversations in the series will bring historical context around recurring topics chosen by youth in the StitchCast Studio published podcasts, including: the culture of trauma caused by poverty and repeated exposure to violence amongst families of color in St. Louis, stories of disorientation and dislocation of black families, and the power of story as healer in black cultures through time.
This project is funded by The Divided City initiative. The Divided City is a joint project of the Center for the Humanities and the Sam Fox School, College of Architecture and Urban Design at Washington University in St. Louis. The Divided City is funded by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.

Youth leaders discuss painting a fence mural on Martin Luther King, Jr. Drive as a part of The Shelter Project, a community collaboration which creates a bus shelter and fence mural painting for the neighborhood with collaborators Kim Jayne and Hassan Shariff from the Wellston Loop Community Development Corporation, bus shelter designers Jessica Colangelo and Charles Sharpless from Somewhere Studio, LLC, and Adrian Gonzalez from Katherine Bernhardt's studio. Youth Council members worked with artist Katherine Bernhardt to create the mural, which is located on Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd. at Hodiamont. Recorded live in Zoom September 15, 2020.
